NO to Malnutrition in Nigerian Children

There used to be an radio advertisement in the 80s while we were in the primary school.

YORUBA                                                                    ENGLISH TRANSLATION

"Mo de ile yin lana Eba le nje.          "I came to visit you yesterday you and your family were starch

Leni kanana eba le tun je,                      likewise today you were eating the same starch

kilode e eyin koni ounje mi ni?"              What happen, is there no other food item ?"

Response

Kila wa tun le je ju eba lo.                             What else can we afford to eat than starch

ki a to ri gaari ohun ra nko?                        before we could afford this one it was so tough?

Visitor's recommendations

Despite all manners of inflation as a result of Covid'19, there are still affordable food combinations

in Nigeria for average families, See below different options and their prices.

With N2,200 you can cook 2 days meal for family of 6 and it will be nutritious

Sweet-potatoes                        N200

2 cans of beans (1600gm)       N400

2 cans of Rice (1600gm)         N800

Tomatoes & Pepper                 N200

Onions & Vegetables              N200

Palm oil                                   N100

Sardine Fish                            N200

Banana  or Orange                  N100

 Total                                      N2,200

Using N2.200 to divide 6 people is less than N400 per person and that is for 2 days. So apparently less than N200 per day for one person.

Every home should give priority to nutrition most especial for their growing up children.

Failure to do this will lead to malnutrition and they will fall sick and be visiting hospitals repeatedly.

Good foods build immunity, good sights and refresh memories. Malnutrition | UNICEF Nigeria

In support of the fight against malnutrition in Nigeria that the First Lady of Nigeria and all the other first ladies of every States of Nigeria are all advocating for.

In the subsequent posts I will be showing video to this effect.

Thanks
